Home gyms are the perfect opportunity to try out obscure workout equipment. And while sandbags are nothing new, when you start to use them regularly, you will be blown away by how effective they are.

Try this 'easy' workout that will burn up every muscle in your body. Start with a general warm-up before you begin, and practice the lifts slowly if you are unfamiliar with them.

Sandbag Clean to Shoulder

An excellent exercise for getting your heart pumping, getting your quads pumped and stimulating multiple back muscle groups. Be sure to drop into a full squat as you 'catch' the weight on your shoulder. Alternate shoulders each repetition.






Continue for 1 full minute. Then immediately jump into:

Burpees x 20 repetitions.

Sandbag Triple Extension Lift

The sandbag triple extension lift is a match made in fitness hell. The unwieldy nature of the sandbag makes it ever more difficult to pull it off the ground and bring it up to chest height as it gets heavier.

Just like a deadlift, push the chest out and jut the chin out as you begin to lift. Stay back on the heels until you start to drive up. Start with a moderate weight sandbag until you get the hang of the lift, then use a weight that allows you to keep going for 2 minutes straight.





Complete these 3 exercises without stopping in between, rest 1-2 minutes and repeat for a total of 5 rounds. Be sure to stretch and cool down afterwards!
